Tacky Christmas Sweater Party @ the Hunt's House of Fun

Saturday night was so much fun! We attended the Hunt's 2nd Annual Tacky Christmas Sweater Party. It's the #1 social event of the year!

I rampaged through two Salvation Army stores last week to find the tackiest sweaters and to my suprise only found one. While at the party, I brought up my suprise (about the lack of tacky sweaters) and Jennifer (who is a teacher) mentioned that the reason that so few tacky Christmas sweaters are available is because most of the Teachers are probably wearing them to school. (Makes sense :)

So the one sweater I found, luckily was big enough to fit Ryan. I found a big bright red sweater that would fit around my ever growing belly and just decorated it with various Christmas stuff.
Check out our picture close up and think about what looks odd. Keep scrolling down afterward to see the results......

In the meantime while your still thinking about the oddness of our picture, here are the fabulous Host & Hostess....Patrick & Jennifer Hunt.

The party was great!!! There was a ton of yummy food (including Jennifers homemade eggrolls - which by the way were incredible) and a cookie station for decorating tacky cookies.

Others in attendance (that we know) were the Whites....Robby, Amber & there new little Babe Zane. Little Zane was sporting a newborn hand painted tacky onesie....but I have to make a note that it was definitely way too cute to be competing for the tacky prize :)

Now for the moment you have all been waiting for......Ryan won the prize for the tackiest sweater. Here's a close up of him with his prize...a Bobblehead
Santa that you can paint yourself.
The reason that Ryan one is because.....he was......wearing .....a woman's sweater.
To his defense I am the guilty party who picked out the sweater and failed to bring it to Ryan's attention that it was indeed a woman's sweater. It was my little secret until Patrick (while in conversation on whether to play games or watch a movie)stopped in the middle of his sentence and asked Ryan if he was sporting a woman's sweater. Ryan looked at me as if I needed to answer the question & I began laughing. I had been found out. I laughed soooooooo hard my belly hurt and tears began to swell from my eyes. Poor Ryan was picked on but hey it won him the prize :)

30 Weeks Pregnant

Ryan and I had quite the busy weekend. Saturday morning we attended a birthing class that lasted from 10 - 3-ish in the afternoon. It was good but we are a bit disappointed with the fact that most of the class was spent watching videos made in the 1980's.
I absolutely enjoyed the part of the class where the instructor had all of the men practice massaging the ladies legs, feet, arms and hands. It was Blissfully wonderful!

OUR Sweet Little Tree !

Here is a picture of our Christmas tree. I was soooo excited to put it up this year because we didn't put one up last year due to moving and being out of town.

This year for Christmas, we are roadtripping to Utah. Fun fun!!! We are very excited to see everyone and to play in the snow. I've (Amanda)never been around REAL snow before so I'll probably spend the majority of my time making snowmen or snowangels while Ryan ski's til he can't ski no mo.

Christmas is in the air!

Last night my friend Jeni, her daughter Kenzi & I went to a "Christmas Celebration" in the Galleria area, by the building that I use to work at. They had a live band playing Christmas music, carriage rides, a little train for the tykes, tons of yummy sweet goodies and of course Santa Clause.

This is actually an ice scuplture with all of the yummy goodies surrounding it.

Plastic santa clause, don't worry kids the real Santa was on the ground in a chair.

This horse was soo adoreable. He had a reindeer hat and cute ankle warmers on while pulling the carriage behind him.

I LOVE LOVE CVS Pharmacy in Pearland TX

Where should I begin? Okay, here I go.....So I started my day at Chik-fa-lae for FREE breakfast Thursdays. It was DELISH!!! Then I went to various stores to browse and kill some time. My last stop was to CVS. I parked, went inside, came out, got into the car, turned the key & nothin'. Can you imagine what just happened - Yes, I became stranded at CVS pharmacy. Of course I didn't have a cell phone on me or any body's phone number, so I went inside to use their phone. Because of my reliance on technology to think for me, the only number I had memorized was Ryan's cell phone number, which didn't help me much since it was almost 2:00 when I called and he was about to take a serious final exam. I felt myself becoming emotional thinking that I could be stranded there until after 5:00 p.m. when the manager "Connie" had overheard the message I left for Ryan and asked me if she could take a look at my car. We went outside and she brought a young man with her to evaluate the situation and to see if they could temporarily start the car, but the car wouldn't start. She then told me to come in to hang out with them inside the store. While inside I used their phone to call information to get my friend Jeni's work number. I thought that if Jeni could come by and pick me up on her way home from work it would only give me an hour and a half to two hour wait instead of over three hours waiting for Ryan to get done with his final. After I got off of the phone the manager told me that she could get an employee to run me home so that I would be more comfortable. I almost said no, but I just had to say yes - SO YES I SAID! A really sweet girl named Tamryn drove me home. I just feel so grateful and thankful to the kindness of the CVS employees for their care and generosity. I imagine that the manager took pity on me b/c I'm prego....and if so - Kudos to me for being pregnant :) !!!

Thanksgiving Bliss

We had a really nice Thanksgiving Day! We began by eating lunch with our friends Jed, Jeni & Kenzi. Jeni made Delicious rolls. We tried not to eat too much because we still needed to attend my family's Thanksgiving dinner. I did really good at not eating toooo much. The food was soo yummy!

We left and headed to my Grammy's house on full belly's. My family usually eats late, so our body's had time to digest the food from the Poll's.

Every year we do a craft on Thanksgiving and this year we made stockings. I made one for the baby and Ryan made one for Astro. Ryan is quite the talented crafter :) The stocking he made for Astro is tooo adoreable.

We had a nice time and of course the food was yummy!

BEWARE Grammy has a Glue Gun and she's not afraid to use it

Ryan and his crafty skills :)

Yum Yum Turkey Leg

Astro is enjoying a turkey leg.

The Car is Now Running

This past Friday, Ryan and brother Hosea (from our Branch) put the new starter in our car and guess what? It wouldn't start. Apparently the battery lost its charge, so we had to go and get a new one. FYI - if anyone needs a battery NAPA auto parts is the place to get it. Don't let Wal-mart deceive you they were the most expensive by almost double of what we paid for it at NAPA.

24 weeks & 5 days Pregnant

Oh the joys of being pregnant:
1. Hearing the baby's heartbeat at doctor visits (my very favorite)
2. Knowing that Heavenly Father is trusting me (& Ryan) to care for and nurture this lovely baby.
3. The glow that never goes away and that I am apparently unaware of at most times.
4. Feeling the baby move around in my belly, except when I am trying to fall into a blissful rest. It actually makes me laugh at times when the baby kicks me at church when I am trying to be reverent. So that being said, I already know I'll have to lay the smack down at church with this one :)
5. The ever growing belly.
6. The emphasis of safety concerns people have when I'm around them.
Now please keep in mind that I'm almost in my 3rd trimester, so the above list of joys may change drastically....so stay tuned ;)

Weekend update

It's a Boy :) Big props to all of you who voted for a boy. He was quite the underdog in the poll. This goes to show that the majority is not always correct!

Weekend Update Continued

We had an exciting weekend. Friday, we had an ultrasound done of the baby and thankfully the results so far are that the baby is healthy and happy. It was quite amazing to see the baby on the screen moving around. Here is a picture of the baby yawning. He was sitting indian style on my bladder at one point and then began grabbing both of his feet with his hands the next. Sooo cute!!! Ryan said that he's already becoming a little show off. I definitely agree.

Grease Monkey

This past weekend Ryan worked on our car. He is quite the mechanic. We went to the Public Library on Saturday so that he could print off the instructions on how to extract the starter and when we arrived home it took him a little over an hour to get it out. Now, as for getting it back in...stay tuned, we are still in waiting for the part to come in.

Happy Halloween

Can you tell what or who we (Ryan & Amanda) are suppose to be? Ryan's costume might be a bit tricky but he is trying to be all that he can be & I (Amanda) am.....look at my shirt then try guessing again......have you got a guess yet? Mums the word. I'm a mummy. Well, I could have done better but I didn't want a ton of toilet paper hanging from me.
Below us is Brian & Laura....they just recently got back from their honeymoon, where Laura broke a bone in her foot. Ouchy....We hope it heals soon Laura!

Castle of Terror

What fun is Halloween without a haunted castle of terror? Our neighbors Joel & Julie had the neighborhood hotspot positioned smack dab on their front lawn. It was great!

Raging Raggidy Ann

First impressions are not always best. This is Ms. Makenzi. She is the cutest red headed toddler in these here parts of Texas! Don't be fooled by a little tantrum she's really an angel & might i add the cutest Raggedy Ann ever!!!

Gone Fish'n'

Ryan went saltwater fishing this past Saturday in Kemah, TX with the Elders Quorum of our Branch. Kudos to him for being the first one to catch a fish!

Fishin' Crew

Here are some of the fellas from the Elder's Quorum that attended the fishing trip.

Let's cook up some fishies

Ryan brought home three fish. Two Red Drum and one Black Drum.

Stinky Fish

It's time for Ryan to "Clean" the fish.

A Fish for All of Us

We threw on some salt, pepper, paprika, butter, lemon and chopped onions and then we wrapped them in foil and threw them in the oven. With the fish we ate french fries, zuchini and drank some yum yum apple juice. The fish were really yummy! Astro definately prefers the fish cooked. In the picture with Astro, the fish was raw and he didn't know what to do with it.

Here's a Little Tid Bit for ya....

I hope that you can all see that the cursor is a man shooting a gun b/c there is a story behind the choosing of this character. Ryan likes...wait let me re-phrase that He LOVES to play Call of Duty (this is a game that takes place in various battles of the World War II era)and he shoots up the opposing team and sometimes ends up shooting his teammembers as well (just for fun). He also likes to play various hunting games online, which I really enjoy b/c you can choose different countries to be in and the animals charge after you. So, the reason for the man shooting a gun as our cursor is b/c of Ryan's enthusiasm of playing the above mentioned shooting games.

WELCOME

Welcome to our BLOGGER page. We (Ryan, Amanda, Astro & Little One) currently reside in Houston TX. Ryan is a 3L (in English 3L means 3rd year law student) at the University of Houston. I am currently a 5 month pregnant homemaker. Astro is our amazingly obedient dog and Little One is our unborn baby which we have recently named Erin. This is not the official name of the baby it's more of a name of convenience. The reason that we named the pre-born baby Erin is b/c we don't know the gender as of yet. It's a universal name that really helps me because I would tend to speak of the baby as him or her when I would talk about him or her. You see I just did it again, hahaha! Erin just makes life less complicated :)
I'm (Amanda)new to this Blog Page Making thing and I have spent oodles of time trying to figure out how to post things. I'm excited to say that I think I'm finally getting the jist of it all. So, that being said, please keep checking our Blog page for updates as to how we are doing and especially to see how far my Blog Page Making Skills are progressing :)

Here are some pictures of people from Brian & Laura's wedding. It was a lovely day!
October 13th was a wonderful day! Our friends Brian Evans & Laura Edwards wed for time & all eternity at the Houston Temple in Spring Texas. It was truly a beautiful and spirit filled ceremony. I was so grateful that they invited Ryan and I to the ceremony in the temple because it gave me a chance to reflect back to my wedding day (over a year ) and to remember just how very special it is to be wed in the temple.

It's almost the end of October

October is almost over and Halloween is next week. We don't have any plans, thus so far. If anything, Ryan said he'd go as a pregnant man :) I'd like to see him pull that off. As of yesterday I am now 22 weeks and counting. I first felt the "Quikening" of the baby last week and it's really cool. I'll probably eat my words once I feel jabs to my ribs, but unitl then, I keep my first opinion :)

Hotel Rewanda Manager

The manager of the hotel rewanda spoke at our law school today. It was very interesting! It seems that the people of that country are ready to embrace democracy and achieve what S. Africa has already achieved.
